Family Lifestyle Session

We all take family photos, on a whim, some of us everyday – hundreds a year, maybe a month! All photos are treasures to share with family, friends, and your future self. The difference, when booking a family session, is tremendous. You are giving yourself and your family the gift of dedicated time together, of all being in the frame, and of capturing your true candid essence.

FAQ

Can we choose the location for our family session?

Yes, when you book your session you will have the option to choose between a few outdoor locations, or your own home. If you have another meaningful location in mind, don't hesitate to ask me about it! Chances are it can be accommodated.

What if the weather is bad on the day of our scheduled session?

In the event of inclement weather, I may reschedule the session for a different day or offer an indoor location alternative.

How can we prepare for our family session?

The most important prep work you can do is to relax and practice light-hearted mindfulness with your family. You might also want to comb your hair and plan outfits. 😉

How can we prepare our young children for the session?

As a mother of 3 young ones myself, I understand the unpredictable nature of kids. Let them know what will be happening (maybe a couple of times) and that it will be fun special time all together. If parents are happy, kids are happy, and vice-versa. I’ll let you know if I need help wrangling them - you just enjoy yourself!

What should we wear?

It is important to consider this a bit in advance, to leave time in case you want to purchase something. Light to mid-range colors photograph well together. You may want to avoid busy patterns on everyone - but I certainly don’t want to inhibit your family style! Do avoid words and large logos. Lastly, a little family color story never hurts, but definitely not required.

Can we bring our dog?

Pets are family! You’re welcome to bring your dog. Please let me know ahead of time. I will do my best to include them in the photos and please do bring some treats for me to dangle. It’s worth considering whether or not you will want any photos without the dog and if that will be possible at the location.

Can extended family members join our session?

A grandparents pop-in for a handful of photos is a-okay. If you would like to include multiple grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, or any other extended family members in the full session, you will want to check out the Extended Family Session tab for more information.

What is your retouching style?

All final delivered images will be lightly retouched for exposure, contrast and color. Detailed requests can be happily fulfilled for an additional fee.

What’s the deal with images rights?

The Photographer retains the rights to use all images taken at a session for her portfolio, including but not limited to, social media, website, and portfolio publications. The subjects (you, the family) retain the rights to use the images for personal use (also known as Private Display), and not for any type of public display or resale. If you would like to discuss or place restrictions on usage, please reach out to me to discuss options.
